Dear Parents,
The Board of Directors of Lutz Prep is meeting on Monday May 14, not that Thursday. We are putting together a Principal Search Committee. We are looking for two parents to serve on this committee. We already have two teachers on the committee. Here’s the process.
We identify candidates with 3 to 5 years of experience either by referral or through a web site teachers-teachers.com. Many, many candidates apply who do not have the criteria so we screen the applicants for their experience. Once we have five to ten qualified candidates we conduct conference call interviews. These interviews take approximately 30 minutes each and are done back to back to back until all screened candidates are phone interviewed. Interviews are recorded so if you miss a segment you can listen to the interviews. Resumes are circulated prior to the phone interviews.
Once the phone interviews are complete we cut the candidates down to three final face-to-face interviews. Those interviews are conducted in the sunshine and anyone who wants to attend is permitted.
Your voice as a parent is valuable to the process. Once the face-to-face interviews are completed the Board votes on the candidates in public. Parent and teacher voices are still important, but only Board members can vote. The Board cannot delegate it’s authority to vote on this decision.
The process, if a candidate is hired, should take approximately three weeks. The time should be under ten hours, but could be more. It is definitely possible that the search does not produce a successful candidate. In that case we start over.
We are looking for two parents, so if we get more volunteers we will put the names in a hat and draw two names. That drawing will be conducted at the next Board meeting Monday May 14. All volunteers should attend that Board meeting for instructions on the process. If you are interested in volunteering for this committee please notify Tom Murray at Thomas.Murray@ucf.edu.
